Web Errors

This page reports and collects errors and obscure messages from web servers and application servers around the internet, during normal web surfing. This is an attempt of evaluating the quality of my web life, by terms of inefficiencies made by others. My initial proposition is that life on the web is pretty fluid compared to real life bureaucracy, but it does have some unsurmountable hurdles. Anyway, we all know that the main inefficiency of the internet still remains the lack of valuable content - and this page sadly contributes to this lack.

Nevertheless - you are welcomed to contribute to this page! I'll be pleased to receive transcripts of errors you had during your web-surfing: you can cut'n'paste the text of the error report, or directly grab the screen content in a JPEG/PNG image, and then send it to me with your favorite email app.

I'm mainly interested in server side errors, because they are more specific and peculiar. For instance, a page with some JavaScript can report mistakes on an old browser but work perfectly fine on a last generation browser: it's just a matter of client agent, and it doesn't tell me anything more than the fact that there're some web authoring deficiencies. Above all, that's greatly influenced by Microsoft browser monopoly: 90% of all internet surfing is done on Internet Exploiter, so it doesn't make sense to track client technology failures. Instead, what happens on the server side is more like a sign of the reliability of the hosting system - of course bad programming is a major indication, but also something that can be worsened by the application server environment itself, its developer tools, lack of support from the vendor, bad project management of the organization, etc. This kind of messages (like the ones you see below) gives an indication (or at least an insight) of the issues happening at the provider of the information you're browsing.

So, let's go for the errors. As you can see below, you'll notice that almost every entry has a header, with the URL where the message was obtained, and the date of when it occurred. Then follows the entire body of the error message, untouched. Enjoy!

I must say that to my knowledge this problem lasted just a couple of minutes after I sent an email to the guys at regiSTAR.com, the company that registered my domain. The issue appeared to be due to the major move by the .org central registry that took place on Feb. 12th. They were still working to clear up some issues due to their move. These included both the Whois and name servers for .org domain names. Great and quick tech support from regiSTAR.com.
