About this site
Technologies used and not used in this web site
This site supports web standards and W3C principles, HTML 4.01, CSS1, page structure separated from presentation. You can safely access this site using old / text-only / other-devices browsers, with JavaScript and CSS turned off; however, with a standard-compliant user agent this web site will look a little bit better.
These pages do not use any specific browser tags and attributes. I believe it's important to absolutely reject the use of Internet Exploiter or Netscape proprietary tags and attributes. The web, and HTML as well, were designed to be cross-platform, and there's no point in transforming them into a mono-platform application. That would also clash against Tim Berners Lee's initial dream of the WWW. For analogue reasons this site proudly does not feature any Shockwave, Active-suX, GIF images and other horrid amenities, since they are proprietary, not portable, all-around distracting and generally time-consuming beasts. Every image here is either JPEG or better PNG, which is a widely supported, free and open standard.
All the pages have been tested on a variety of platforms and browsers: Mozilla 1.0 (build 2002052918), Chimera 0.5 / 0.6 (2002090913 / 2002110415), Camino 0.7, Safari 1.0 (v85) (also Beta 2 (v73) / (v74)), Dillo 0.6.6, Lynx, w3m version 0.3, iCab 2.8.1, MSIE 5.1.2 (3707) and 5.2.3 (5815.1) on Mac OS X (10.1 and 10.2); Netscape 4.74, MSIE 5.5 SP2 on Windows NT; Netscape 7.0, MSIE 5.5 on Windeew$98 and Millenium.
As a navigation help, I provide a navigation bar and a site map; and if you have a standard-compliant browser with JavaScript+CSS turned on you can adjust the layout of every page as per 1 column layout or 2 columns layout, using the links on the navigation bar.
My blog is implemented with the excellent WordPress, using PHP and a mySQL database. WordPress is a feature rich blogging engine that is also free software.
