Sovvertire

Adesso e’ svenuto, non so… E’ mezzo morto”.

And they call this “The Land of Freedom” ?

An essential clip, but from minute 3:43 it gets truly sensational.

Maybe what strikes the most is that after such an absurd and illegitimate disallowance he calmly begins his argument with:

“Gentlemen, I think you’re being subjected to an unlawful order”

And continues:

“The authority of the state of Massachusetts should not be misused for a political exclusion of a presidential candidate who has a ticket to watch the debate on remote television and has a official invitation from FOX news. [...]

This is the strangest situation I’ve ever seen.

Bipolar Democracy

The [presidential] debates [in the USA] are controlled by the so-called Commission on Presidential Debates, a private [non-profit] corporation which was created by the Democratic and Republican Parties in 1987.

The Commission is headed by Frank Fahrenkopf — the former head of the Republican National Committee, and Paul Kirk — the former head of Democratic National Committee.

Fahrenkopf is a lobbyist for gambling interests, Kirk for pharmaceutical companies.

The Conflict of Interests explained — by Silvio Berlusconi

“A conflict of interests exists when a person takes care of its own interests against the interests of the community. If, by doing the interests of the community, I’m also doing MY OWN interests because I am one of the community… this is not a conflict of interests.”

Silvio Berlusconi, current Italian Prime Minister, owner of three major nation-wide analogue TV stations, many digital TV channels, radio stations, one nation-spread newspaper, numerous magazines, advertisement agencies, publishing companies (big ones like Mondadori), a major insurance and banking company (Mediolanum), one football team, countless real estate properties, one major film production company (Medusa), legions of whores placed in his own TV programs, and who knows what the fuck else.

No oil, coal, or nukes: just 200 sq km of solar panels for the whole Earth

Mojave desert solar tower

Petroleum, coal, nuclear energy… what the hell are we thinking? Carlo Rubbia, Physics Nobel prize, said that to solve the planet energy problems all we need would be a 200 km x 200 km square of solar panels. And that area is only 0.1% of our deserts. Our deserts will become a precious resource. How’s that for revolutionary thinking?

If only the world was led by scientists and engineers, instead of assholes and “magnaccia” (pimps)

Nuclear warheads in Italy and Europe: just give the word!

Want some WMD? No need to go to Iraq, just travel across Europe. All safe, ready and made in USA.

“[The] February 2005 NRDC paper pieces together evidence from an array of sources to show that the United States is still deploying 480 nuclear weapons in Europe. Until now, most observers believed there were no more than half that many still left on the continent.”

A great wealth of updated information is here:

Some older stats:
“Today, there are fewer than 180 US nuclear bombs in Europe. (1998)” [link1]

“The United States now retains approximately 1,100 nonstrategic nuclear weapons, with a few hundred deployed with aircraft in Europe and the remaining stored in the United States.”
“Unclassified reports indicate that, of this number, fewer than 500 were air-delivered bombs deployed at bases in Europe” (2004) [link2]

The B61-5 is a lightweight (350kg), low drag/parachute-retarded variable yield (10-500kT) tactical thermonuclear weapon.

Un-democracy U.S.A., televised

Un-democracy USA, televised

Two things I can see from the CNN screenshot (taken today Feb 5 around 11:20 PM):
1. People are voting for a candidate who already bailed from the race (Edwards got out a week ago)
Corollary: Either I am missing something basic (votes for Edwards’ are transfered to whoever he endorses?) or somebody is pretty disconnected from reality.

2. CNN doesn’t even report results for the only “other” democratic candidate around, Mike Gravel.

It has to be said that CNN (and all other mainstream media outlets) has totally ignored Gravel giving him no TV air time, so at least they are coherent bastards. However, how can legit “alternative” candidates like Gravel ever stand a chance if no-one even consider them? Has he lost before even trying, or are we making him lose? Is this democratic? Is this giving everybody a fair chance? I don’t pretend equality, just the fairness of doing your job.
